Good Nutrition is a cornerstone of every healthy human society, indeed due to its significance, the Department of Biochemistry runs a
Postgraduate Diploma in Nutrition programme with a view to provide candidates with:
• Good understanding of the Principles and Practice of Nutrition.
• The knowledge and skills necessary for understanding the relationships between Nutrition and Health.
• An academic background for pursuing a successful and rewarding career in Nutrition.
• Enhanced capacity and competence to deal with common nutritional challenges.
The programme consists of course work, field work/practicals and project, and can be either run with flexibility as:
A full-time programme for a minimum of two (2) semesters and maximum of four (4) semesters, or
as a part-time programme for a minimum duration of four (4) semesters and maximum of six (6) semesters to suit your work schedule and desire.
Candidates with the following academic qualifications from recognized institutions may apply for admission into the programme:
a) Applicants must have five (5) credit passes including English language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics in GCE O-levels, NECO or SSCE.
b) A degree in Agriculture, Biochemistry, Nutrition, Nursing, Medicine, Food Science, or Food Technology, Home Economics and related disciplines with a minimum of Third Class degree. Holders of pass degree with a minimum of five (5) years of cognate field experience may be considered.
c) Professionals in the field of Nutrition who may be HND holders with a minimum of Lower Credit or equivalent in related disciplines.
d) Registered Nurses with post basic qualifications and Community Health Officers with relevant experience in the field of Nutrition.
